Kilims originate from Central Asia and the Middle East. What separates a kilim from a hand knotted carpet is the absence of a pile, earning it the definition "flat weave". Essentially tribal in nature, Kilims reflect their origins in their bright colours, striking symbols, simple geometrics and stylized representations of people, animals and everyday objects.
