THE ORIENTALIST DAZZLES CULTURE VULTURES WITH AN OFFERING OF POP ART, MOD AND FASHION-FORWARD CARPETS

POP CULTURE

Singapore’s answer to Andy Warhol, painter Ketna Patel, brings a punch of colour to your walls. Famed for her contemporary interpretations of historical Asian art and bold use of colours, one of her exclusive designs for The Orientalist features an image of a woman’s foot decorated with floral patterns. A sure hit with pop fans.

BLOCK PARTY

Haynes Robinson’s colour blocks are all the rage on the Pucci and Louis Vuitton runways this Fall. But more than just fashion-forward decorations for the home, these carpets employ the blurring techniques of the 1940s and 1950s abstract expressionist Mark Rothko. Featuring ‘floating’ forms by layering vibrant hues of red and yellow over neutral tones of brown and olive, these woollen carpets create the illusion of depth in smaller rooms.

SQUARE OFF

Chuk Palu infuses modish flair to traditional Persian carpets in his latest collection. His wool-and-cotton carpets feature colourful squares in red, blue, green and yellow, lined up like ranks of Terracotta warriors, fit for the likes of mod-queen Twiggy to curl up on.
